Design Downtown 2013
Harrisonburg Downtown Renaissance would like to extend an invitation to all local artists and university students to participate in the Design Downtown Contest 2013.
About the Contest:
With so many new elements to life in downtown, Harrisonburg Downtown Renaissance invites local artists to celebrate the positive growth and changes of our historic district through a design that illustrates the spirit of downtown. The winning design will have high artistic merit and promotional value, and it will capture the nuances of our unique community. The contest is not limited to a particular medium, though it should be easily reproducible in a 2D format. All entries should include the artist’s signature with the date “2013”.
Deadline for Submissions:
Judges are now accepting submissions. The contest will close on Friday, April 5 at 5:00 pm; all submissions must be received by this time.
How to Enter:
Entry forms are available as a downloadable PDF. All submissions should be sent to design.downtown.hburg@gmail.com and include as attachments the entry form and a high quality digital rendering (at least 300 dpi), PDF format, of the design. For 2D graphic designs, a vector-based format file should also be attached. All 3D entries can be dropped off at the Harrisonburg Downtown Renaissance offices at the Hardesty-Higgins House at 212 South Main Street in downtown Harrisonburg.
Winner Benefits:
The winner will be announced at First Fridays on May 3rd, as well as on Harrisonburg Downtown Renaissance’s Facebook page, Do Downtown blog, and website.
An exhibit will be held as part of First Fridays on May 3rd that will feature the top designs of the contest, with a special highlight on the winning design. The winning design will be reproduced on downtown merchandise, such as t-shirts, posters, and travel coffee mugs, to be sold by Harrisonburg Downtown Renaissance at events and in various venues throughout downtown.
