This annual concert and film series is held on the Court Square lawn in downtown Harrisonburg every June-August.

Brought to you by Harrisonburg Downtown Renaissance and Citizens for Downtown.

Don’t miss the season opener! Internationally recognized as one of the hardest working, high energy blues bands around, the ever popular Nighthawks return once again with a rockin’ good show!

June 15 (film): How to Train Your Dragon

(2010, PG, 98 min)

A hapless young Viking who aspires to hunt dragons becomes the unlikely friend of a young dragon himself, and learns there may be more to the creatures than he assumed. 2x Oscar Nominee 2011 for Animated Feature Film and Music (Original Score).

June 22 (concert): The Judy Chops

Roots music with a modern twist including shimmering 3 part vocal harmony, virtuoso guitar, and energetic stage presence. This local favorite’s eclectic Americana is infectious!

June 29 (film): Super 8

(2011, PG-13, 112 min)

During the summer of 1979, a group of friends witness a train crash and investigate subsequent unexplained events in their small town. Received high acclaim & box office reviews, lauded as a "classic summer blockbuster," and received 3.5 out of 4 stars from Roger Ebert.

July 6 (concert): Fatty Lumpkin & The Love Hogs

Affectionately know as “Fatty” to their fans, this rockin’ blues band of six from Southwest Virginia rolls out excellent originals as well as their own brand of favorite covers. Get ready to dance!

July 13 (film): Best of the Super Gr8 Film Festival

Back by popular demand, this film night will feature an assortment of short films from the 2nd annual Super Gr8 Film Festival, a local film festival created as a unique community event to help local filmmakers, artists, and musicians share their vision through this timeless film format.

July 20 (concert): Michael Clem Trio

For more than 20 years, this veteran bassist & songwriter for Eddie from Ohio, Michael Clem, brings his folk-rock back to his JMU Alma Mater’s hometown. Featuring tasty 3 part harmonies with trio members Rusty Speidel of SGGL and Thomas Gunn of Lost Highway.

July 27 (film): The Help

(2011, PG-13, 146 min)

An aspiring author during the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s decides to write a book detailing the African-American maids' points of view on the white families for which they work and the hardships they go through on a daily basis.

August 3 (concert): The Gary Smallwood Band

August 10 (film): The Wizard of Oz

(1939, PG, 101 min)

The tale of a young Kansas girl who dreams of a better world “somewhere over the rainbow.” When Dorothy is thrust into the eye of a tornado and lands in the fantasy world of Oz, she soon finds herself in a heap of trouble with three hapless misfits to guide, an evil witch at her heels, and no way to get home.

August 17 (concert): George Wesley & The Small Axe Orchestra

A favorite from last Summer’s season, George & Annette return for an encore performance! Dipped in Rock & Caribbean influences, George’s original & infectious style of Reggae forges his uniquely compelling voice with lightning guitar, impressive keyboard and MIDI guitar live loops. Welcome back!

August 24 (film): Hugo

(2011, PG, 126 min)

Based on the book of the same name, this Martin Scorsese film is set in 1930s Paris where an orphan who lives in the walls of a train station is wrapped up in a mystery involving his late father and an automaton. 10x Oscar Nominee 2012 for Best Picture, Costume Design, Directing, Film Editing, Writing (Adapted Screenplay) and 5x Oscar Winner 2012 for Cinematography, Art Direction, Sound Editing, Sound Mixing, Visual Effects.
