Annual Veterans Day Celebration

Join the City of Harrisonburg in honoring our nation's heroes at the Annual Veterans Day Parade. Flags line Main Street as local Veterans groups ride by on patriotic floats accompanied by the Harrisonburg High School Marching Band and JROTC, Boy Scout Troops, civic organizations and a convoy of military vehicles.
The parade begins at 2:00 p.m. at the Rockingham County Administration Building located at 20 East Gay Street and travels South on Main Street to the City Municipal Building.
Following the parade, at 4:00pm, the Harrisonburg High School Symphonic Band and Honors Choir will perform at Memorial Hall, 395 South High Street.
In 1945, Mr. Edwin J. Newman was drafted into the U.S. Army. He attended basic training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma for 20 weeks; was sent to Panama for 13 months; and was discharged in 1946 at Fort Bragg, North Carolina at which time he signed up for the Army Reserve. He later transferred into the Army National Guard. He served 16 years in the National Guard (Company M - 29th Infantry Division) and was a member of the Harrisonburg/Rockingham Veterans Band.

We invite all clubs, civic organizations, companies, and individuals to submit an entry in the Veterans Day parade.
Please submit parade entry forms to: Veteran’s Day Parade, c/o Kim Kirk, 212 South Main Street, Harrisonburg, VA 22801. Applications must be received on or before November 1, 2013.
