Content Development & Marketing Internships
Are you interested in developing your marketing and social media portfolio for a future career? Have you always wanted to be an influencer? Excited about developing content that will be seen by thousands?
Each semester (Spring, Summer, and Fall), we hire 2-4 talented and creative interns who demonstrate a knack for writing, storytelling, research, and social media to help share what downtown has to offer.
Internship hours are flexible and can be tailored to university departmental requirements and individual student schedules. Internships may be paid or for-credit.
Responsibilities May Include
Producing regular social media “Takeovers” that showcase the wide variety of downtown businesses and attractions
Researching and writing regular blog posts, including “round-up” style posts (i.e. Valentine’s Day date ideas) and “Friendly Faces of the Friendly City” features (interviewing and telling the stories of people in the downtown community)
Developing video content for our social media channels (Facebook and Instagram), YouTube channel, website, etc.
Taking ownership of our online directory and events listings, including researching downtown businesses to write and update compelling directory entries, and adding events to our Events Calendar on our website’s backend
Assisting with other content development and writing tasks as needed, which may include work on our website, email newsletter, social media, community events, and developing print materials
Working with our team on event prep and helping out on the day of events
Other duties as assigned – we encourage interns to bring in their own passions and ideas to promote downtown Harrisonburg
