Based on trending shopping behavior, we are going to try an "affordable luxuries" theme for this year's holiday shopping guide. Please submit gift ideas from your business that are small, high-quality items or experiences that elevate someone’s daily routine without costing a fortune.

We will be highlighting treats under $10 to “splurges” up to $350.

Some qualities to consider:

• gourmet flavors

• signature fragrances

• quality ingredients and craftsmanship

• luxurious textures (i.e. silk, velvet)

• investment pieces - things that will stand the test of time under frequent use

• experiences you might partake in to “treat yourself”

Note: Depending on the number and types of submissions, we may consolidate some listings into a “roundup style” (i.e., rounding up all the exercise and dance classes) in which case businesses will get a discounted participation fee.

Submissions are open to retailers, service businesses, and tourism destinations located within downtown Harrisonburg. We ask that restaurants, cafes, breweries, etc., do not submit at this time.

As space allows, we will feature culinary businesses as a whole in the guide as an experiential gift offering. Please be on the lookout for our dining guide form in December/January.

We will be charging a participation fee this year to cover the cost of production. Participation in the Holiday Gift Guide is $30 for Friends of Downtown, non-Friends will be charged $100. We will reach out to you with payment instructions once your submission has been confirmed.

Payment is due no later than October 26. Missing payment will result in your business being removed from the guide.

Rather than submit a gift card or experience, we encourage you to think about the specific experience or item that the gift recipient is likely to buy with it. Is the certificate for a class? Can the gift card go toward a membership or subscription? Frame it in a way that shows the impact or memory they will receive (we will direct people to your gift certificate page when they click to learn more).
